Announcing RE:Source, the Inland NW By-Product Synergy Network

Numerous businesses and public organizations have begun working together to launch a Spokane regional by-product synergy network – RE:Source. The network’s concept promises to strengthen local and regional businesses as well as the economy.  Working under a two-year WA State Dept. of Ecology Public Participation Grant awarded to Sustainable Resources INW, this network is advocating and employing 21st century “circular economy” best business practices that have been shown to lower operating costs, reduce waste disposal, create new business opportunities and extend our vital natural resources, through the exchange and reuse of materials.   Participating local business leaders will have access to new resources, including a materials exchange network and free workshops on strategies used around the world to make businesses more efficient, innovative and competitive.

Sustainable Resources has a diverse group of Partners on this project: American Exploration & Mining Association, Associated Industries, Ecova, Impact Washington, McKinstry, Pacific Materials Exchange, Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency, Spokane Regional Solid Waste System, Sunshine Disposal & Recycling, URS, Waste Management Recycle America, and the WA State Dept. of Ecology.  The Leadership Team guiding this project will include representatives from most Partner organizations in addition to businesses with expertise in this approach to materials management such as Baker Commodities and Barr-Tech.
